Hentz striped scorpions are one of four species that are native to our state. These arachnids are Florida’s smallest scorpion and also its most common one. Although you wouldn’t want to get stung by one of these animals – it feels like a wasp sting – they aren’t lethal and typically only sting when they feel trapped.

We found this one crawling on one of our radiated tortoises and relocated it (both tortoise and scorpion are fine!).
