Tersa moths (Xylophanes tersa) are found through much of the United States and into South America. As caterpillars, they feed on plants like Smooth buttonplant, starclusters, and Manettia species. Adult tersa moths drink nectar from plants like the honeysuckle.

These large insects can grow up to three inches long and typically come out at sunset (we were fortunate enough to catch a glimpse of this one on a car door during the day).
